Richard Lewis Can’t Stand Larry David

Richard Lewis Can’t Stand Larry David

Curb is back! Season 7 premiers tonight on HBO, and it oddly made me recall an interview Richard Lewis did while he was in town last year (odd because even with a stellar memory, I’ll most likely be too stoned to remember to watch or tape the premiere).

Lewis was performing at Charlie Goodnight’s, and the interviewer lets him tell the whole life story and all the great things he’s doing, then finally gets down to business. The important shit. When asked about Curb and Larry David, Lewis responds:

“He drives me nuts since he won’t tell me what the episode I’m working on is about until just before it’s shot. He’s the Woody Allen of television, but I can’t complain since he’s a genius.”

Still, he claims the spats he and David — whom he has known since they were 12, thanks to a summer camp — have on “Curb” are authentic.

“It doesn’t take much for us to get into a fight,” Lewis says. “We’re always fighting off the set. That’s why we avoid each other in real life, but I love Larry and I’m proud to be part of “Curb.”

Hilarious.

And for your viewing pleasure, here’s a clip of Larry buying weed off Hurley from Lost:
