I’ve read enough screeching articles this week on private citizen Sarah Palin to make my corneas bleed. Thankfully, this morning BlueNC tossed me some Visine:
“We were informed today that she no longer wishes to do talk radio interviews in the car. It’s too distracting,” wrote a senior Palin adviser, in an e-mail to senior headquarters staffers. ”We were informed today that she no longer wishes to do TV or print interviews post-rally. She’s drained. We were informed of her displeasure that her host and US Senator Richard Burr was allowed to ride the [Straight Talk Express II] with her. “
The e-mail was dated October 26. Here’s a photo from NewRaleigh of Burr bro-ing down with Todd & Sarah during her November 1st speech at the N.C. Fairgrounds:
Six days later! Damn, what a loyal foot soldier.
And it’s the snubbing of the loyal foot soldiers that will eventually get Sarah’s goat. Give us all the fact-checks and call-out pieces you want: no one’s picking up a copy of Newsweek and having the light bulb go off over their head for the first time. “Wow, she’s REALLY an idiot!” People decided which Sarah side they were on long ago.
But Burr voted Republican 91.7% of the time in this Congress and you didn’t want to hang out with him? Was he too “moderate” or something? He wanted to be your bud! Given his record, he was probably angling for a little of your “raise money and awareness for worthy causes” love in 2010. Under the bus you go!
I refuse to worry about Palin and 2012, now that backbiting supporters is as ingrained a part of her personality as the intuition required to pose leaning on a crumpled American flag draped over a dining-room chair.
Relax. Imagine Barney Frank talking to THAT dining-room table.
